Student wellbeing
THRIVE is our student engagement and wellbeing program, thoughtfully designed to build a strong sense of belonging, resilience, and personal growth in every child. It provides students with the tools and strategies to build confidence, connect with others, and develop essential life skills.
Thrive is built on 3 key components:
• House System
• School Pillars
• Resilience Project Program.
House System
Every student at ACPS belongs to one of our 4 Houses—Crushers, Diggers, Miners, and Panners. This system creates opportunities for teamwork, leadership, and friendly competition. Our House system strengthens school spirit, with students earning points through positive behaviours, participation, and effort in their learning. House events encourage collaboration across year levels, fostering pride and connection within our school community.
School pillars
Our 4 School Pillars—Community, Character, Connection, and Curiosity—shape how we learn, interact, and contribute to our school.
Community
We respect what we have and show care and responsibility to enable our community to thrive.
Character
Connection
Curiosity
These values are embedded in everyday learning and guide our students in becoming kind, responsible, and engaged members of the school community.
The Resilience Project
A key component of THRIVE is our weekly Resilience Project lesson, which helps students develop emotional intelligence and mental wellbeing. Students learn practical strategies to manage emotions, build resilience, and maintain a positive mindset.
The Resilience Project is based on 4 key principles:
- Gratitude – Recognising and appreciating the positive aspects of life, even in challenging times.
- Empathy – Understanding and sharing the feelings of others to build strong, supportive relationships.
- Mindfulness – Learning to focus on the present moment to reduce stress and improve concentration.
- Emotional Literacy – Developing the ability to recognise, understand, and manage emotions effectively.
Each lesson provides practical, age-appropriate activities and discussions, helping develop resilience, self-awareness, and emotional regulation. By embedding these principles into everyday school life, we support students in managing challenges, building healthy relationships, and maintaining a positive mindset.
We believe that fostering strong wellbeing and engagement is fundamental to every child’s success and happiness at school. Do you have any questions about how we support student wellbeing?
