Foundation

Choosing the right school for your child’s first year is a big decision.

At Andersons Creek Primary School, we’re dedicated to making the transition to Foundation (Prep) a smooth and joyful experience for every child and family.

Our transition program

Our comprehensive transition program is designed to help your child feel comfortable, confident, and connected to our school community before their first day. It’s also a great way for you to get to know our principal and Foundation teachers.

Transition program stages

Term 2: Storytime

  • Who’s it for: 3-5 year olds
  • What we do: Children will enjoy story time and a fun craft activity, helping them become familiar with the school environment.
  • When: 4 sessions, now complete.

Term 3: Bridges

  • Who’s it for: Students starting school in 2026
  • What we do: Children explore various school spaces like classrooms, the library, theatre, stadium, and art room, helping them feel comfortable in different areas.
  • When: 4 sessions, now complete.

Term 4: Orientation

  • Who’s it for: Students enrolled to start at Andersons Creek Primary School in 2026
  • What we do: Children meet their Foundation teacher, their Grade 6 buddy, and get to know their new classmates.
  • When: 2:30-3:30 PM on October 24, October 31, November 7, November 14, and December 9.

Life in Foundation (Prep)

The first term of Foundation (Prep) is a special time. To support your child’s adjustment, we structure the week to ease them into full-time schooling. This includes having Wednesday off for part of Term 1, allowing for a gradual transition. Specific details are provided as part of enrolment.

Our buddy program

Our Buddy Program is a beloved tradition that helps Foundation (Prep) children settle in and feel secure.

Each Foundation student is paired with a Grade 6 student. Knowing an older, friendly face in the playground helps our youngest students feel happy and safe.

Buddies participate in special activities together throughout the year, fostering friendships and a strong sense of belonging.
